Cody Simpson is finally speaking out about reports that he was unfaithful to his girlfriend Miley Cyrus.
Over the weekend, Simpson was pictured hanging out with a Playboy model in New York City â but without his lady love Cyrus by his side â leading fans and tabloids alike to speculate whether the âGolden Thingâ croonerâs romance with the âMalibuâ songbird had come to an end. The 22-year-old seemingly addressed the cheating accusations once and for all on Monday (December 23) in a series of tweets bashing the media.
âWe are all gossiping our way into ignorance, attempting to relieve ourselves of the concern that we are really swirling into oblivion on a burning planet. If only we gave more thought to how we may possibly save our earth and less to the trivialities of celebrity culture,â the Australian musician wrote. âGossip outlets are the plague of journalism. If more people concerned themselves with literature and not the poison of the mind that is most news columns weâd maybe be in a better place as a society.â
As previously reported, Codyâs sister Alli was the first to slam the breakup rumor. "Yes [they're] together for sure,â Alli told the Daily Mail, clarifying that the Playmate in question, Jordy Murray, was actually the girlfriend of Codyâs best friend, Ryan McCarthy. In turn, the photos were nothing more than evidence of a casual outing with friends. Nothing more, nothing less.
Even so, fansâ suspicions werenât without cause, as after the images surfaced via TMZ, Cyrus posted a âsad Christmasâ song on social media, and alluded to feeling âlonelyâ ahead of the holidays.
