Alaska Airlines is officially the first major airline to ban emotional support animals.
As of January 11, they will only allow service dogs. These dogs have to be "specially trained to perform tasks for the benefit of a qualified individual with a disability."
This comes after the Department of Transportation modified what a service animal is.
Many airlines have questioned people who were passing off animals, like cats, rabbits, birds, and more, as service animals to avoid paying extra fees.
As Sara Nelson, the president of Association of Flight Attendants, puts it, "The days of Noah’s Ark in the air are hopefully coming to an end."
