In January, the San Francisco Board of Education agreed to change the names of 44 schools, including Abraham Lincoln High School and George Washington High School. A panel proposed schools named after historical figures should be changed due to their links to "oppression and racism," according to NBC Bay Area. The public was asked to assist in the renaming process and to submit suggestions.
Due to criticism, the San Francisco Unified School Commissioners will be voting on Tuesday, April 6th to pause renaming.
